People who know about stuffs related to Jailbreaking IOS devices must be knowing about Cydia. This post however is dedicated to users who are new to the concept of jailbreaking an iPhone or other is device and don’t have much knowledge about stuffs related to jailbreaking and Cydia.
After you have obtained jailbreak on your device, you will see the Cydia app on the Springboard. If you have not yet obtained jailbreak on your device but would certainly wish to do that, have a look at the tool evasi0n. Using evasi0n you can jailbreak any iOS device running iOS 6 and above in the easiest way possible. Simply plug in the device and run the tool on the computer, that’s all.
Introduction to Cydia
Just like the App Store is house to all the apps available for iOS device, Cydia is for all the tweaks, themes and jailbreak stuffs. Some people assume that Cydia is used to download cracked or pirated app for free but it’s wrong. One can certainly download and install apps without paying for them on a jailbroken iPhone and other iOS devices, but Cydia is certainly not the place for that. Cydia is basically an app which helps you explore many different repositories that are hosted for iOS apps for amazing tweaks and themes.
When you launch Cydia on a device, it will load data from different repositories before it becomes fully functional. These repositories can be managed using the Manageâ€">Sources tab. By default the app contains some default repositories you can use. More source can be added or the existing ones can be removed using the Edit source module. Based upon the repositories you can search and download different packages to your iPhone.
To search for a theme or tweak, navigate to Search tab and look for anything you would like to download. Alternatively you can see a list of all the available themes and tweaks in the Sections tab. The Manageâ€">Packages section gives you the list of all the teaks that are currently installed on your device and changes gives you the list of available upgrades. Cydia contains both free and paid packages. While the free apps can be downloaded as an anonymous user, the paid apps require you to sign up. You can either create a Cydia account or connect your Facebook or Google account to it for faster login.
