If you ask me which the best email service is, I would say itâs Gmail and if you would ask me my opinion about a note taking service, nothing could beat Evernote in that. Today we are going to see how you can combine these services so that you can easily save emails as a new note in Evernote directly from Gmail interface. You would also be able to import the notes while composing new articles .
So letâs see how itâs done. We will be using Powerbot extension for browsers for the task.
Gmail Powerbot for Evernote
1. The extension is supported for Firefox, Chrome and Safari. If you are using any one of these browsers, navigate to Powerbot for Gmail homepage and install the extension. For this article, I will be using Chrome as my default browser.

2. After you have installed the extension, a button might appear on your extension area and a new webpage will open in your browser. It will be a three step process in which Powerbot will ask you to grant access to your Google account.

3. The extension will authenticate you via Gmail access and you will not be asked for a password. The extension will ask you to grant access to your personal information on Gmail along with email read access. This is necessary to transfer emails to Evernote.

4. Next you will have to authorize Evernote account as well. Here also you will not be asked for your password.

5. Once everything is done, open Gmail Inbox. If itâs already open in a tab, refresh it. Now when you try to read an email, you will see the Send to Evernote button in the header. If you donât see the button (possible if you are using a 3-pane view in Gmail) you will have to open the email in a new window.

6. Having done that, Powerbot will ask you to give the new note a name and the tags you would like to use in it. Not only the text but all the attachments will be added to Evernote. The extension keeps a record of all the notes you transfer to Evernote and you can open the extension page to get a direct link to the note you sent.

Conclusion
So that is how you can send your emails from Gmail to Evernote. One more thing you can do using the extension is insert quick notes whilst composing a new email. However as the extension is not yet compatible with the new compose feature of Gmail, you will have to revert back to old compose window.
