There comes a time when you decide to purchase or build a new PC because your old one is starting to not work so well. At that time, you always find yourself wondering what youâre going to do about the files on the old one. Are you going to attach the hard drive and let it run parallel to your new, faster one? Thatâs not really an improvement, is it? This dilemma leaves you with with two computers and all of your old settings and files on the old one. When you find yourself in this scenario, thereâs one application that can answer your call to migrate data and files: Zinstall WinWin.
Note: Zinstall WinWin is one great software and we are gla d to have a giveaway event for this software. Read on for more detail.
How It Works
First of all, letâs discuss how Zinstall WinWin actually manages to transfer all your stuff:
- You download the program onto your old computer and then run it.
- Repeat the same process on the new computer.
- Connect an Ethernet cable between the two computers and let WinWin configure the connection, preparing the transfer.
- Initiate the transfer process on the new computer.
All the applications, settings, and files from your old computer will start to appear on the new one. This is supposed to work well when transferring data from a Windows 7 computer to a Windows 8 system. Letâs put it to the test.
The Experience
Upon first running Zinstall WinWin, I had the impression that there was going to be an installer that writes into the registry and copies files to the computer. There was nothing of the sort. The program just started up on the new computer, asked me for activation credentials, then asked me which computer this is (so that it knows whether the current computer is the source or the destination).
Running the program on Windows 8 was no different than on Windows 7. Everything was seamless at startup.
Once within the interface, Zinstall automatically scans both computers. This process should not take long, provided that your computers are properly connected to one another via Ethernet.
Once the connection is finished, you just click âGoâ and the process is started. Clicking â Advancedâ apparently takes you to a very similar dialog that doesnât do much else. This kind of puzzled me. Thereâs not much purpose to it, but I shrugged my shoulders and continued the process.
As far as the transfer is concerned, it was rather quick. There were no errors, and it did not skip over anything (to the best of my knowledge). It does its job efficiently, hands down, helping you to migrate data and files.
Conclusion
Compared to other PC migration software (such as PCmover and Windows Easy Transfer), Zinstall WinWin is definitely up to the mark. It outperforms Windows Easy Transfer with seamlessness and ease of use. Compared to PCmover, it sits at the same level. People using Windows Easy Transfer were reportedly having problems finishing up their data transfers with the program hanging at the end of the process. There is no problem of this sort for Zinstall WinWin.
I can say with pride and assurance that I have never tried anything easier to use or more useful than Zinstall WinWin. It definitely scores above and beyond anything else I can possibly think of at this moment.
