Chrome For iOS Gets Better Searching, Improved Back Button & More [Updates]

Google Chrome on iOS is catching up in terms of version number with the release of Chrome 25 for iOS. The update adds a couple of useful new features and, of course, plenty of bug fixes and stability improvements. Chrome 25 does not work on jailbroken iOS devices. If your device is jailbroken, do not update the application yet. Google is aware of the issue and is working on a fix.

For those of you with jailbreak-free devices, this update brings some slick improvements to the back button. Holding the back button will now open a to drop-down menu with your recent history. This is a feature that has been available on the desktop version for some time, and it’s good to see it make its way to iOS.

The update also adds the ability to share a webpage via the Messages application on iOS. This makes it easy to share a site with your friends, and while copying and pasting the link was always an option, this new feature makes it much easier and quicker.

Google is also experimenting with the way search works, and will be implementing some new features “over the coming days”. These features will include the ability to see your actual search query in the omnibox instead of the search URL, and will make it easier for you to refine your search results and see more of them on the results page.

Do you use Chrome on iOS, or is it not the best browser for the platform?
