BitTorrent Gives You 1 Terabyte Sized File Transfers With SoShare [Updates]

BitTorrent launches SoShare, a simple file-sharing service that can carry 1 TB of your data absolutely free. SoShare was announced by BitTorrent in a blog post and is in public beta. You can sign-up for the free service, download the browser plug-in, and send your file to as many people as you want. Yes, it’s that simple.

SoShare was thought up as a file sharing and collaboration platform for coders, designers, and artists; people who need to move large files around in a blink. SoShare’s 1 Terabyte of allowed file size should break a few barriers.

Catherine Meek, Director of Product Management at BitTorrent says:

3.34 million Americans work in creative industries. And still: there’s no media delivery service for people who work in media. You can’t fit everything into an attachment. Syncing services have caps. Delivery services have limits.

SoShare runs on the BitTorrent framework. On the front-end there are the browser plug-ins â€" Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari for Mac; and Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer for Windows. After signing for the service, you can attach your files and send it to any recipient â€" or multiple recipients â€" by giving their email addresses. You can also create a public link, if you want to share via chat, Twitter, or Facebook. Recipients are informed with an email. The files are available for 30 days, but the sender can expire them anytime. Downloads can be paused and resumed. The sender receives a delivery receipt when the file is received.
