How to Attach Files in Gmail From Various Cloud Storage Services

While it is very easy for us to store our files and data to online storage services, it can be a troublesome task if we want to send a particular cloud-stored file (via email) to our friends. Gmail allows its users to upload files from Google Drive but what if you are using other cloud storage service?

Thanks to Cloudy extension for Google Chrome, Gmail users can attach files from multiple cloud storage services including Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, Picasa, Flikr, Github, WebDav, FTP and more. Furthermore, you can even use your webcam to capture images or create a video and attach it. You can even choose attachments from other emails in your Gmail account as well as upl oad files from your Computer or any web URL.

Getting Started

First of all, head over to Chrome Web Store and install Cloudy for Google Chrome. If you are logged in to your Gmail account, refresh the page and click on the Compose button. You should see a new Cloud icon.

Click on the cloud icon and it will open a small popup with the list of all the services it supports. Just select the service and connect your desired cloud storage account with it. For the first time, it will ask you to authorize the app to access your account.

After authorizing, it will show you the list of all the files and folders in the specific cloud storage service. Select the file you want to upload and click on the Upload button. It will first download the file to local storage and attach it as an attachment in Gmail. Keep this thing in mind that you cannot attach files larger than 25MB. From the same popup, you can even upload files from your Computer or any URL as well. You can even select attachments from other emails in your inbox. Simply authorize your Gmail account and it will show you list of all the emails. All you have to do is select the email from where you want to attach the file and select it.
