The Windows Store has been bifurcated and divided into dozens of regions by Microsoft, mainly so that they can have particular apps for users of one specific region. So if a developer wishes to make his/her app available only in China, then a Windows Store user in the United States will not be able to download that app. These restrictions are imposed mostly due to language inconvenience. Many users keep shifting to different regions and countries while travelling and they might want to download and install apps specific to the region. Normally, Microsoft doesnât let you do that.
But if youâre the person who doesnât want to have limitations youâll certainly want to know how you can download region restricted apps in Windows 8 and configure the Windows Store to allow you to download and install apps not available in your region or country.
Before moving to the method itself, weâd like to explain what exactly the situation is.
1. The app might show up in the Windows Store search, but you will not be able to download it.
2. Even if the app is displayed and you download it, the services of the app will not function due to region incompatibility.
The method involves changing your location and switch to a region where the particular app you are trying to download is available. Also, you need to find out in which the region the app is available for download from the Windows Store.
Trick To Download Region Restricted Apps in Windows 8
 Modifying the Store Settings
Let us take the case of the app âUitzending Gemistâ which is available only in the Netherlands region and not in the United States.
Step 1: Go to the Start button on the keyboard of your PC and type âRegion.â Click on the âSettingsâ section that shows up in the search results. Select âRegion.â
Step 2: The Region Windows will open up. Click on the âLocationâ Tab to view a list of regions and countries supported Microsoft Windows. Select the region you wish to have in order to download the relevant app, which is âUitzending Gemistâ in this case. After selecting the preferred region or location, click on âApply.â
Step 3: All you need to do now is to close the Windows Store and launching it again. Now, hover your mouse or finger(if youâre using a touchscreen device) over the top right portion of the screen. Enter the app you wished to download from another region into the âSearchâ box and hit enter.
If you also wish to get back to the original location of Windows, just go back to Store Settings and perform the same process again as described in Steps 2 and 3.
That is the easiest method to download modern Apps that are not available in your country or region from the Windows Store directly. Just for your information, the China Windows Store has the maximum amount of apps, and next is the United States.
